Happy Car Day!

Well, that’s what it felt like. Poor Sam had to take time off from work, because it was Pain Doc Day. The pain doctor is off in the wilds of Cobb County, because that’s where we lived when I started seeing a pain doctor, and it’s darn near impossible to get a reference to a […]

Thing-A-Day 1!

If there’s a way to auto-cross-post relevant entries from here to Thing-A-Day, I haven’t figured it out. Doing it manually feels inelegant. I don’t have a photo to post, but I got out the drawing tablet for the first time in an embarrassingly long time and worked on a cross-stitch design. It split into two […]

SBQ: What do you do while stitching?

The Stitching Bloggers’ Question of the week is: What is your favorite pastime while stitching? Do you just enjoy silence, listen to music/audiobooks or do you “watch” TV/movies? Do you have specific favorites you listen to/watch while stitching? I like gaming while stitching, but I’m finding that it doesn’t work so well in one-on-one games. When we […]

SBQ, Heat, Cell Phone

It’s been a while since I answered one of the Stitching Bloggers Questions. This week’s is Are you starting something new to celebrate the New Year or participating in “Guilt Free January?” If so, what are you planning on starting? I had to go look up “Guilt Free January.” Apparently, it refers to some practice […]

I Have Done More Than Twittering!

For one thing, I have several draft posts sitting around here, but I haven’t been able to stay focused long enough to finish any of them. Sam caught some kind of flu-like crud, which Katie and I both caught, of course. Now he seems to be getting it again, which is grossly unfair. Poor bear! The girl […]

Color Clues, or Why Four Blue Sweaters Isn’t Enough

“Another blue sweater? You have four of those. Why not get something different for a change?”

“No, I have navy, cornflower, Williamsburg, and baby blue sweaters. This one is royal blue. That’s totally different!”

Okay guys, I know that you thought women were making up some of the color names we use. Chartreuse? Why not say green? And garnet—that’s red, right? What’s this about plum, amethyst, grape, violet, mauve, and fuschia all being different? They’re all purple, aren’t they?

No, really, they aren’t. We don’t make them up just to vex you. They’re all very, very different, which is why we would never consider wearing brick red lipstick with a cherry red sweater. Ick!

Now there’s help for you. Free help, even!

Dragon Con, Weekend Planning, and Back to School

I won’t be going to Dragon Con unless a ticket (or pass—hey, I’m willing to do panels, ya know) falls out of the air. Sam will be running games and the girl will be working the con, so they both got passes. :-)  I’d happily meet out-of-towners for lunch or something, though. Jeannie, are you still […]

Fantasy & science fiction art gallery

I just learned about Epilogue, a marvelous online gallery and community, by way of a link from needlework designer and artist Teresa Wentzler’s blog. Wentzler’s art has just been approved for inclusion there. Congrats to her! Epilogue could easily become another time sink!

SBQ: Stitching on the Road

This week’s Stitching Blogger’s Question is What do you keep your WIPs and other stitching supplies in when traveling? I nearly didn’t answer this one, because the bag is dingy! This is the disreputable bag in which I carry my current stitching projects. Projects go in Ziplock bags inside the bag, as the bag itself has […]
