Michelle, one of my best friends in middle and high school, has the first significant piece I ever stitched. It was probably finished around 1982. The pattern was in the Unicorn Collection leaflet published by Candamar Designs. I didn’t do this very well, as I didn’t find out until afterward that you were supposed to make all the stitches go in the same direction.
