Two Poems

They may suck, but since I had to write them for an assignment I figured I’d share them here as well.

Summer Camp

You dash to your new home
Guided by smells
bug spray and sunscreen
Girls’ voices squealing, laughing
Hidden by the trees
You leave us behind
We follow with your trunk
Lumbering through the brush
The camp swallows you
As we return to our world.

Immortal

Your eyes are in her face
Can you see the sprouts
pushing their way up?
Smell the fecund ground
Feel the rain starting
She isn’t looking at them
Intent on the goal
Shouting to girlfriends ahead
Through her you live.
