The Air Force has issued an arrest warrant against Jennifer Bier, a civilian therapist, who has refused to turn over confidential counseling records of a military rape victim to the military court.
A temporary stay of arrest has been issued by the Tenth District Federal Appeals Court; arguments will be heard later this week.
Bier has provided counseling services to several Air Force Academy cadets, including Jessica Brakey, a former cadet whose rape allegations broke open the sexual assault scandal at the Air Force Academy. An internal investigation found multiple problems in the way sexual harassment and assault was being addressed at the academy and resulted in the firing of several Academy administrators.
The very idea of the military being able to issue arrest warrants for civilians is insane! I’ll be watching this case very closely.
