House Passes Unconstitutional Measure

House strips fed­er­al courts of juris­dic­tion over same-sex marriage
A parade of Repub­li­can speak­ers lament­ed the unbri­dled pow­er of fed­er­al judges to thwart major­i­ty will, although no fed­er­al court has yet ruled on the 1996 law.

Well, yes, that’s one rea­son we HAVE a Supreme Court—to avoid hav­ing mob pure majori­ties decide issues.

That “full faith and cred­it” part of the Con­sti­tu­tion is very unpop­u­lar with Repub­li­cans these days, as is the whole idea of checks and balances.
