Arrrgh! Mom just called to let me know that “the fam­i­ly has been called in” around Dad­dy’s dying broth­er-in-law. No sur­prise to me, since the man has lung can­cer and his con­di­tion has been dete­ri­o­rat­ing bad­ly for sev­er­al months.

They haven’t gone because Dad­dy has been in bed since Wednes­day with a “cold.” Any­thing that caus­es Dad­dy to miss work has to be real­ly serious—I’m talk­ing pneu­mo­nia. Has he gone to the doc­tor? Of course not! That would wor­ry and upset me at any time, but com­ing so soon after the death of curiousmay9’s father (which Mom and Dad know about) because of ignor­ing “a cold” too long, I’m freak­ing out.
