WHOA, the volunteer organization that I work for is recruiting Internet Safety Advocates. We’re hoping to get people outside the US—we have several people here in the US already. We’re looking for people with good technical and communication skills to help people who are being harassed online.

Part of the job involves judgment calls as to what is and isn’t harassment—sometimes people report spam thinking they’re being targeted for special harassment. At other times you’d be helping them figure out the origin of an email or Usenet message and who to complain to about those, or a particular website or message board or chat room.

WHOA doesn’t practice ANY kind of discrimination. We accept volunteers and victims of any race, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, etc.

The deadline for applications is midnight EST on August 5, 2002.
