Mental Literacy, Anyone?

The topic of mental literacy came up in comments on veryty‘s journal recently. Mental literacy refers to knowing how your brain works, specifically how you learn and how to learn.

I’m reading The Mind Map Book: How to Use Radiant Thinking to Maximize Your Brain’s Untapped Potential by Tony Buzan right now. I’m hoping to improve my ability to brainstorm, get beyond lists and retain information better. I want to combat the whole fibro brain fog thing with better learning techniques.

Mentat Wiki looks like it might be a good resource along the same lines.
This wiki is a collaborative environment for exploring ways to become a better thinker. Topics that can be explored here include MemoryTechniques, MentalMath, CriticalThinking, BrainStorming, ShorthandSystems, NotebookSystems, and SmartDrugs. Other relevant topics are also welcome. How have you made yourself smarter ?
