Patches Mystery

Okay, Patch­es has us com­plete­ly mystified.

I shut Patch­es out of our room last night, since she was so unfriend­ly to Sam and did­n’t want to stay out of the bed. Some­how, that seems to have caused her to real­ize that Sam’s pack hier­ar­chy is much high­er than hers, because she was quite friend­ly to him this morn­ing — real­ly relieved to see a human when he came out of our room! He walked her and has been able to pet her. He sat down on the couch and she got in his lap for cuddles.

Then I got up. And she’s act­ing as if she’s ter­ri­fied of him again! She absolute­ly will not go near him. She won’t allow him to walk her. If I put the leash on her and hand it to him, she pulls on it ’til the col­lar slips off. She’s stay­ing with­in inch­es of me at all times, fol­low­ing me around the house as if she fears I’m going to dis­ap­pear at any moment.
