We got Katie’s California Achievement Test results yesterday.
Math: grade equivalent is 13 (beyond 12th grade). I can’t remember the percentile at the moment, but it’s really high.
Language Arts: same on the grade equivalent. 99% percentile. Spoken vocabulary and reading were at “over 18 years of age.”
Writing assessment: well written with absolutely no errors in spelling, grammar, or usage.
The writing assessment isn’t part of the standard CAT but is one major reason that we go to Sylvan Learning Centers for the testing instead of trying to get hold of the tests ourselves. It’s good to have a completely independent reckoning of how she’s doing since all three of her parents are most definitely biased. I recommend their services to any homeschoolers, especially in Georgia. (Georgia law requires standardized testing at least once every three years.)
The center coordinator said, “I can’t remember if I’ve ever sat here and told somebody that they absolutely didn’t need our services, but Katie doesn’t.”
I am one proud Mama! I know that my girl is smart and doing very nicely with her studies, but these results are nice to have for any skeptics (like, oh, the extended family members).
