We didn’t go to the MindSpring reunion. I had mixed feelings, and then realized that I wasn’t quite ready to leave dracofrost and shadowkatt in the house unchaperoned.*
I realized that while there are people with whom I’d like to re-establish contact who were at the reunion, and while the first part of my time at MindSpring was both wonderful and a great opportunity, the end of that time really soured things for me. It ate badly at my confidence. After reconnection with Green, among others, I learned that what happened to me certainly wasn’t unique or unusual—it was part of the move towards corporatization and conformity. I had no desire to run into Stromberg or McQuary. It wouldn’t have been fun. So I didn’t go.

*Not a reflection on either kid—I’m still getting used to the whole “My BABY has a BOYFRIEND!” thing. I think I’ll likely post more about that later.
