Cool Freeware

Yes, I’m up far too late. I’m too hyper to sleep at the moment—and I’m polishing my homework for tomorrow. Yes, it’s done, I’m just a perfectionist. And the danger of choosing interesting topics for one’s projects is that you don’t want to let go of them!

Anyway, I’ve been using this marvelous piece of freeware called Break Reminder. It reminds me to take “micropauses” every 10 minutes to stretch and enforces a 15-minute break every 30 minutes. Between the two, I don’t find myself getting so stiff that I can’t move, and my pain levels are better. It’s completely configurable—I have it set to fairly strict settings, but you can tweak it to your heart’s delight.

You can get it from the nice folks at Chequers Software. It’s free for personal or non-profit use, but they’ll happily sell licenses to businesses. Windows only, I’m afraid.
