Grrr. A short time ago I started getting lots of spam from dotcomdollars.com, frugaljoe.com, gz.com, premierdirectmedia.com and networkmedia.com. I’d never heard of any of those places before, and suddenly I was getting several pieces of spam daily from each of them. I couldn’t think of any obvious way that they’d gotten my address.
Now I know. One of the pieces of spam referred to EMode, and I remembered taking a test there. I went back and looked—yep, I registered there and gave them my address and two days later I got the first spam from those companies. I didn’t use a sneakemail address because I was too lazy and EMode seemed reasonably legit, TrustE certified, and so on. Now I know better.
