Five Things for 4 April 2003

1. How many houses/apartments have you lived in throughout your life?
Hmmmm…21. Five places with my parents, two dorm rooms, and a succession of houses apartments since then. Three moves were largely due to the stalker creep.

2. Which was your favorite and why?
This one, I think. The best memories are here.

3. Do you find moving house more exciting or stressful? Why?
A little of both. It’s always a hassle to move, but it’s usually to a better place, too.

4. What’s more important, location or price?
Both. I won’t live in a crappy neighborhood at all, though, so I guess location is more important to me.

5. What features does your dream house have (pool, spa bath, big yard, etc.)?
Hmmm. My dream house has lots and lots of shared and private space. There’s enough yard to really insulate us from any neighbors. It’s on a quiet street that doesn’t go anywhere—I really prefer cul-de-sacs or a long private drive off a fairly quiet road. Mature deciduous trees—no pines ANYWHERE near the house (I’ve had one come through the roof before, thankyouverymuch, and that was more than enough.) A nice big front porch that wraps all the way around the house. Lots of windows and high ceilings, for light and that feeling of space. Fireplaces. Hardwood floors. A roomy garage that does NOT face the street (I don’t want the first thing I notice to be the garage), and a generously-sized driveway. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for the family and guests. A nice open floorplan in the main area—great room, kitchen, etc, and a playroom for the kids. CAT-5 cable already installed, with network, phone, and cable TV jacks everywhere we might possibly want them. I dream of a roman tub that we can soak in, and a pool would be lovely but I don’t really like taking care of pools. I guess it would have to come with staff 😉
