Blog or Journal?

I’ve been drawn into various blogs today, seeking distraction from physical pain.

Bloggers are all the rage, but Live Journal users seem to be second-class citizens.

How do you perceive the difference between blogs and LJs? Why do people who mess around with software like TypePad or sign up with real “blogging sites” have more credibility, somehow? You don’t hear anyone asking if an LJ user is a “journalist,” now do you?

Some of you maintain blogs as well as journals. Why?

What affects your choices as to what to publish where?
