Database Update

I’ve got 255 charts/magazines/leaflets in the Organized Expressions Needlework database now. I was entering a record for each chart in each magazine or book, but that grew old very quickly and I stopped after about 3 books.

This process isn’t nearly as painless as using Readerware, thanks to the absence of barcode scanning or drag ‘n drop capabilities. I emailed the company asking if they plan to add those features, but they haven’t responded.

That’s why I don’t have a value assigned to 99% of the items. Some of these things are so old, too—how do I put a value on something that’s out of print? With “normal” books, I can usually find them available used somewhere online. That isn’t the case with needlework items.

I don’t care about their value for anything but insurance purposes, but that is an important consideration. I figure I’ll probably end up setting some standard value for leaflets and magazines.

Happily, I have managed to weed out 5 or 6 duplicate leaflets and a few patterns that I just don’t like anymore.

I have stitching stuff to send to a few of you. I promise I’ll send stuff out this week.
