RIP Johnny Cash.
His songs and those of Hank Williams, Sr., Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, and others were all around me as I grew up. That and the gospel music that Mom’s family sing when they gather have had an indelible influence on me, especially with regards to harmony. He’s the only one of that group that I’ve sought out to listen to from time to time as an adult.
