Onion Girl

I’m still up, hoping sambear will get home sometime while it’s still today. Yes, he’s still at the office. This is the price for taking two “vacation days” to celebrate his birthday tomorrow and Friday.

I finished Onion Girl by Charles de Lint today. I’m glad I did. When I realized that it deals with childhood sexual abuse, I nearly put it down. With most authors, I would have, no question. But somehow, I trust de Lint. So I kept reading. I don’t know if I’ll pay for it with more nightmares or flashbacks, but I did read the whole book.

It’s a good story. It’s about healing and redemption, ultimately. And while I didn’t entirely *like* some of the ending, it was right. It was the only right thing for these characters and their stories.
