I Should Live WHERE?

Do you have any idea, at all, how hard it is to refrain from doing all those quizzes? I try, I really do. And I’ve only posted one result so far that I can remember (that Enneagram thing). But this one has me wondering:

Where’s the best place in the United States for you to live?

It asks you about the kinds of things you like to do, how important crime rates are, weather preferences, how important airports are, etc. And in one of those, I answered that I don’t like humidity. So why are there two Louisiana cities in my top three results, a total of 7 in the whole list? Maybe that question just isn’t weighted very heavily?

I was a little annoyed with the way some things were presented. There was no option to give you marital/living status as “partnered”—you’re single, married, or divorced as far as they’re concerned. They definitely don’t give any way to indicate that there might be more than two adults in your household. In the list of religious affiliations, Pagan isn’t listed at all. There’s a listing for “Unitarian” but I’m not one—I’m a Unitarian Universalist. I finally chose “Other.”

Unlike many sillier tests, though, I didn’t just stop even considering taking it. Most of the quizzes that I see folks taking are asking questions with answers that are just so wholly outside my experience that I don’t get further than glancing at them—if I do that much.

1) Little Rock, AK
2) New Orleans, LA
3) Shreveport/Bossier City, LA
4) Sacramento, CA
5) Honolulu, HI
6) Fayetteville, AK
7) Alexandria, LA
8) Monroe, LA
9) San Diego, CA
10) Orange County, CA
11) Las Vegas, NV
12) Las Cruces, NM
13) Baton Rouge, LA
14) Long Beach, CA
15) Oakland, CA
16) Lafayette (Cajun Country), LA
17) Portland, OR
18) Baltimore, MD
19) Santa Barbara, BA
20) Ventura, CA
21) Houma, LA
22) Washington, DC
23) Albuquerque, NM
24) Corvallis, OR

I do find it a little funny that there are only two places I’ve ever visited on the list—Orange County, CA and DC. I definitely wouldn’t ever want to live in either of those places. I’ve spent most of my life in the suburbs of Atlanta. I was born in Gadsden, Alabama (and I definitely don’t ever want to live there again!). I guess it’s a good thing that I’m not considering relocating and therefore I don’t actually need that test’s results to be very valid for me.
