Review: A Terrible Fall of Angels by Laurell K. Hamilton

A Terrible Fall of Angels (Zaniel Havelock, #1)A Terrible Fall of Angels by Laurell K. Hamilton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m impressed! Laurell K. Hamilton wrote a novel that’s excellent, engaging, and doesn’t even have one sex scene in it!

There are some minor similarities to the Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series here, such as going into too much detail about what people wear or how their makeup is done. There’s a lot of relationship talk, too, even if it’s mostly interior “talk” from Havelock.

The mythology Hamilton is building here is very interesting. In her world, angels are ever-present, and demons are much closer than one might think. There are humans who specialize in communicating with angels, trained by a College of Angels. Havelock was trained to be an angel speaker but left the College. He’s a police detective now.

I look forward to the next installment of Havelock’s story.
