SlashDot

It’s been a while since I actually signed in to slashdot. I subscribe to the RSS feed on LJ and read any article whose headline catches my fancy. I signed in today and noticed new stuff that didn’t seem to be there when I originally set up my account long ago. There’s a journal there? And a user profile? and you list friends, foes, and freaks? Odd.

And simply knowing that one is to list these things and that I don’t even know anyone else’s user ID (although I definitely know people who read /.), makes me feel sorta lonely having my profile sitting there all unlinked. Weird, huh? Neurotic? Probably, at least a bit.

That’s one of the few places where I’m not Technomom, but CynTechnomom. My first account there was Technomom, but apparently I didn’t sign in for so long that the account went inactive and I had to create a new account. I actually managed to get the password for whoever has that account now by simply sending in an email and asking for it, then realized what had happened and asked the site admins to contact her and have her change her password so I wouldn’t know it anymore—I’m rather attached to that user ID, but it would have been totally unethical to try to take it back at this point. The old comments I’d made using that ID seem to have scrolled away, anyway. I’m sorta curious about her, but all I know is that her name is JoAnn and she seems to be a programmer.

Cyn is Rick's wife, Katie's Mom, and Esther & Oliver's Mémé. She's also a professional geek, avid reader, fledgling coder, enthusiastic gamer (TTRPGs), occasional singer, and devoted stitcher.
