I’m re-reading a book I read a long, long time ago, The 12 Steps to Self-Parenting for Adult Children. I don’t twelve-step, but I remembered having such a book and was looking for it to loan out to a friend. I was stuck in the car and didn’t have anything else interesting at hand and I started re-reading it. This book usually refers to your “inner parent” more than a “higher power.” I’m getting very annoyed, though, that male pronouns are always used when referring to the inner parent, and female pronouns are used for the inner child. I don’t recall noticing that when I read it back around 1991 or thereabouts.
