The Free Land of Cynthiania is a tiny, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million is either ruled by a small, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it’s difficult to tell which.

The tiny, pro-business government devotes most of its attention to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Commerce receiving almost no funds by comparison. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 2%. A large private sector is led by the Basket Weaving industry, followed by Book Publishing and Information Technology.

Crime is a major problem. Cynthiania’s national animal is the Lynx and its currency is the Skein.

=================

There was one question about crime—do you think deterrence or rehabilitation of criminals is more important? I’m all for deterrence. So apparently the game is sure there’s a crime problem. Hmph. I’m curious as to what kind of “issues” will come up and how they will affect my virtual country.

I want my own flag. Preferably with a lynx playing with a skein of thread. I like, um, lessee, teal and purple? There are too many flags out there using red, green, blue, yellow, white, and black.

If you have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, see http://www.nationstates.net/.
