I’ve iden­ti­fied one rea­son that many doc­u­ments pro­duced by “tech­ni­cal com­mu­ni­ca­tors” are so unread­able. Our pro­fes­sors con­sid­er some­one who uses “fore­ground­ing” rather than “focus­ing on” in an arti­cle to be an authority.
