Enemy of Entropy
Oh. That Would Do It! (That Problem With Posting to LJ)
I’ve tried all the different plugins that claim to work with WordPress for cross-posting to LiveJournal, but recently I’ve gotten errors from everything. I’ve asked for help from the authors in their forums and nothing seemed to be happening. And then I saw this: Banned Because of Live+Press’ Bad Behavior. That’s from the current maintainer of Live+Press, the plugin I’ve had the best luck with overall. Read on…
exhaustedGrrr
The latest version of WordPress is out, so I upgraded this blog right away, as I usually do. Of course, the plugin I use most, Now Reading, choked and won’t work any more.
Le sigh.
The problems with the previous “new” WP version were never truly resolved, and now the author’s forum isn’t working, either. I figure he has an actual paying job, so I can’t fuss too much. But I’m still disappointed.
Singing the Joys of WordPress
I have to say, I do love the fact that WordPress allows me to write posts and schedule them to post themselves to cover days when I don’t feel up to blogging. I’ve been having a lot of trouble viewing the monitor lately – my eyes feel like they’re dancing and nothing stays in focus, leading to migraines very quickly. That is not a good thing when I’m in the last week of classes for the semester!

Graphics. Gah!
There are times when being graphic-impaired really does annoy me.
I’m finally moving forward with porting the Heartsong Handicrafts site to WordPress. It shouldn’t be a big deal. I’ve done the same many times before with other sites.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a logo. I mean, I have a simple logo, but it isn’t very good. It doesn’t sing, that’s for sure. I just want a nice, simple logo that isn’t terribly busy, but that doesn’t look (like the first attempt) as if I made it from clip-art and standard fonts. My utter and complete lack of drawing ability is a serious handicap in this endeavor.
I did sorta customize a WP theme to match the crappy logo, but that part is easy. The harder part is having something to give the site visual interest, and that doesn’t exist right now.
On the other hand, the cross-stitch patterns themselves involve graphics, so I don’t want things to get too busy. It’s a balancing act.
I may have to throw myself on Katie’s mercy, or something. She’s pretty busy, though, and prefers to draw whatever she feels like drawing rather than creating something to suit a particular theme.
Where are my Gravatars?
I obediently updated to WordPress 2.5.1, and lost my Gravatars. I’ve checked the settings, and they’re still enabled. They’re definitely still in my templates, but nobody gets anything but the default “no gravatar” picture. Buh?
