Singing the Joys of WordPress

I have to say, I do love the fact that WordPress allows me to write posts and schedule them to post themselves to cover days when I don’t feel up to blogging. I’ve been having a lot of trouble viewing the monitor lately—my eyes feel like they’re dancing and nothing stays in focus, leading to migraines very quickly. That is not a good thing when I’m in the last week of classes for the semester!

I get a lot of spam comments on this blog, but over 99% of them are caught by Defensio. That’s a real figure, not an estimate! See?

Many of those are truly disgusting, even without ever following a link. If I could find a way to automatically disable comments on any post over a certain age, I think the quantity would go way down. I don’t want to do that manually, though, and I haven’t found a plugin that will do it automatically. I did make a post in the WP forums asking about one, hoping that I just missed something that is already available.

  1. I’m just getting into using WP and i was hoping to get your feedback into the difference of using WP verse Drupal, any suggestions to using one over the other?

  2. I don’t have extensive experience with Drupal, but I have used it. I definitely prefer WordPress for blogging. Drupal would still be better for some projects, but it is more complex, and I’d hesitate to set up a site using it and hand it over to a non-technical person. I feel pretty safe doing the same with a WP installation.
